Situated at an altitude of 18,379 feet, Khardung La is counted amongst the highest motorable passes in the world. Gateway to the remote Nubra and Shyok valleys, the mountain pass holds a strategic significance as supplies to the Siachen Glacier. Khardung La offers astonishing views and remains popular amongst travelers, especially adventure enthusiasts. Necessary precaution needs to be taken by all the travelers in general and people with breathing problems in particular.Read Less...
Located at an altitude of 14,200 feet, Pangong Lake, also known as Pangong Tso, stretches from India to China. The crystal clear waters of the Pangong Lake change its color in many shades of blue and green with the changing position of the sun in the sky. A refreshing phenomenon and a sheer treat for eyes, the lake is a beautiful contrast of deep blue water against the strong hues of brown land. Though the brackish water supports negligible vegetation or aquatic life, the lake is also a haven for bird watchers. Inner Line Permit is required to visit here which can now be availed online as well. Also, this high grassland lake has made an appearance in several Indian movies.
